ジョニー先生ってどんな人、質問してみました!

Question #1: How long have you been in Japan? Can you share your best experience in Japan?

8 years, my most lasting experience was driving along side the grassy fields sitting just below Mt. Unzen in Nagasaki. It was my first time to see a volcano in my life. As I traveled up the mountain’s winding narrow roads I felt my heart race looking over the side. Before that I went to Osaka, Kyoto, and a couple other places but while looking down from upon the summit of Mt. Unzen I thought “Wow.. this is Japan”. Japan is more than its culture, its people, its places, its the very land we stand upon everyday birthed of fire from the belly of the Earth. That was the day I truly felt connected with this land.

Question #2: Where do you live? What’s great about your city?

Nagoya, it kind of feels like my home town of Pittsburgh. Both are in known for their industry and both have passionate sports teams.

Question #3: What’s your favorite place in Japan?

My neighborhood, I like my neighbors and I have a lot of friends that live near me. There are quite a few places I frequent like my friend’s Sencha tea house near my house or my other friend’s cafe. There are a lot of old people in my area so things aren’t so hectic. And when I look out from on top my room I can see the majestic mountains topped with woolpack clouds far off into the distance. That makes me feel at peace.

Question #4: What’s your favorite food in Japan?

Miso anything with Miso on it!

Question #5: What is your hobby? What do you do in your free time?

I enjoy playing video games and listening to music. When I’m not doing that I like to make video games and music. I really find designing things a lot of fun.

Question #6: Do you like music? Who is your favorite musician? Any Japanese musician?

Rancid, The Gorillaz, The Black Keys, GO!GO!7188(Japanese), Zutomayo(Japanese). My favorite composers are: Koji Kondo and Grant Kirkhope.

Question #7: What’s your dream? What would you be doing in 10 years?

I want to have a life of meaning and purpose. I want to create art and music. Oh… and be able to speak Japanese.

Question #8: Where would you like to travel in Japan or in the world and why? What’s in your bucket list?

  • Hokkaido, I miss the snow! Maybe I’ll live there some day it gets very hot in Aichi.
  • Gujō Hachiman, it feels like a town straight out of fantasy the way its built intertwined with the river.
  • Nagasaki, I really love that place.
  • As for the world: Queensland Australia, the Mad Max movies were filmed on it’s sweeping flatlands. They have an avid car culture. Amsterdam the Netherlands, its a city built on the river!
  • Hawaii U.S.A. I have several friends from there. I also like volcanoes.
  • Thailand, I visited there once and it was a life changing trip! I met some kind people up north in Chang Rai and Chang Mai.
  • The Yukon Canada, I think Mount Logan and Emerald lake are beautiful places. The wilderness is right at your doorstep. Plus I want to see the Porcupine caribou.
